The Carbon County Sheriff's Office is responsible for booking and holding all inmates arrested and serving sentences in Carbon County. The Jail employs 14 officers and 4 cooks to supervise and feed inmates. |

The jail has 7 sections housing from 4 to 16 inmates per section. The female section houses 14 women. There is one section devoted to work release inmates. Work release inmates are privileged and leave the jail to continue a job they had prior to incarceration, or work for the county on a work crew. Work release inmates live in a dorm environment, sleeping on bunk beds. They have no cell or privacy. |

16 inmates share two showers and one television. Inmates are responsible for cleaning their housing section. |

The maximum capacity for the jail is 87 inmates, this includes the 5 holding cells. Currently the jail averages a daily head count of 75 inmates. |

The jail relies on inmate workers to wash the inmates clothing and to keep the jail clean outside of the sections. Inmates given this job are called trustee's. They also live an a dorm section, sharing their housing with short term and weekend commitment inmates. Windows in all the sections are mirrored on the inside, minimizing communication between sections. |
